The Royal Tenenbaums

The three Tenenbaum children were prodigies in literature, tennis, and business. But childhood trauma and harsh adulthood hasn’t done them any favours. One day, their long-estranged father, Royal, shows up at their doorstep. His return stirs up a great deal of repressed emotions.
This is a black comedy that delves into complex family dynamics, (unrequited) love and even grief. Of course, the film features director Wes Anderson’s incredible eye for detail — from the production design to the cinematography and storytelling. It’s set in New York, but we see Wes Anderson’s version of the city — no Empire State Building, no hot dog carts, just perfectly curated beauty and melancholy, dosed as needed. And surely, we get one of the best soundtracks ever (Bob Dylan, Nico, Ramones, The Clash, Elliott Smith) and last but not least, also one rooftop falcon(!).
