“It’s A Wonderful Life” was not particularly well received in its time, but has still evolved into a well known and loved Christmas classic over the decades since its release. The film’s depiction of the loss of a loved one, the hardships of life and depression is universal and relevant to this day. The film is beloved by many acclaimed directors (like Steven Spielberg, Akira Kurosawa, David Lynch etc) and Spielberg has said that the message of the film is simple yet profound - that every person on Earth matters.
