Magnus Kirt: The Comeback

Magnus Kirt grows up on his father’s teaching that hard work always beats talent, and that in the end the work brings its reward. Together they dream of Olympic gold, but then his father dies unexpectedly. The top of the world is still far away. His best friend from childhood, a man who knows nothing about the javelin, steps in beside him. The two are bound by a promise they made to him: what you start, you finish. Years of work begin to pay off. Magnus throws beyond 90 metres and becomes the world number one. 

At the World Championships in Doha the title is within reach when his shoulder dislocates on the fifth attempt, with one throw still to come. The silver medal is the start of an entirely different contest. Surgeries, recovery and one new injury after another push the Olympic dream further away, but Magnus responds to every setback with even more work. Exactly as his father taught him. What you start, you finish. But when the reward never comes after all, it is not only his career that is in question. It is everything
he has built his life on.
