Christmas Eve in Southern Estonia. The veterinary board receives a suspected outbreak report and sends an inexperienced, jaded officer to investigate. He immediately declares the local farms contaminated. The first to face the consequences are Ants and Minna, an elderly childless couple whose animals are everything to them. In desperation, Ants turns to Bratoslav — a Moldovan vet whose EU credentials are worthless, but whose word the village trusts more than any official's. Meanwhile, relatives arrive for their obligatory annual holiday visit, planning to drop off gifts and leave. They won't be leaving so easily. Over the course of one Christmas Eve, bureaucracy, vanishing rural traditions, and family collide — and showing up turns out to mean more than anyone expected.
