Jätkusuutlikkus praktikas: dokumentaalfilmid

Dokumentaalfilmide eriseanss toimub rahvusvahelise konverentsi “Jätkusuutlikkus praktikas: isetegemine, parandamine, taaskasutus ja innovatsioon” (30.10.–2.11.2024) raames. Konverents tõstab esile isetegemise ja kogukondlike praktikate olulisuse ökoloogilises jätkusuutlikkuses ning heidab valgust parandamisele, taaskasutusele ja argisele leiutamisele nii minevikus kui ka tänapäeval.
“Empathfridges”

Freedge’ide võrgustik on toidu jagamise mehhanism, mille eesmärgiks on vähendada toidupuudust ja toidujäätmeid, tugevdades samal ajal kogukonda. Igaüks võib külmikutesse tuua toitu, kõik võivad sealt toitu võtta. Lähemal uurimisel selgub, et toidujagamise taga on midagi enamat kui pelgalt soov vähendada toidujäätmeid, see hõlmab ka afekte, empaatiat ja emotsioone.
„Empathfridges“ avab Freedge’de uksed, uurides inimeste emotsioone, afekte ja empaatiat toidu kaudu. Dokumentaalfilmi eesmärgiks on süüvida sellesse, mis motiveerib inimesi neis emotsionaalsetes praktikates osalema. Külmkapid mängivad filmis keskset rolli, tuues esile oma mõju inimeste tegevusele ja tähenduste loomisele.
“Homme saabub paradiis”

Maailm vaevleb prügiuputuse käes. Et päästa keskkonda ja oma laste tulevikku, on noored emad otsustanud peredele toitu hankida kaubanduskeskuste prügikastidest.
Filmiseanss ja sellele järgnev arutelu toimub inglise keeles.
Filmidel on ingliskeelsed subtiitrid.
Konverentsi korraldab Eesti Rahva Muuseum koostöös näituseprojektiga „Peedist pesumasin“, mida kureerivad Eesti Maanteemuuseum, Eesti Põllumajandusmuuseum ja Tartu Linnamuuseum. Konverents ja näituseprojekt on osa Euroopa kultuuripealinn Tartu 2024 põhiprogrammist.

This special screening of documentaries will take place as part of the international conference Sustainability in Practice: DIY Repair, Reuse and Innovation (30 October – 2 November 2024). This conference addresses ecological sustainability through do-it-yourself (DIY) practices and solutions, such as repair, reuse, and vernacular innovation, in the context of everyday life, as well as domestic and community settings, both today and in the past. Facing the global climate crisis, this conference seeks lessons from the past and present in order to develop more sustainable and resilient ways of life.
“Empathfridges”

Freedges are a sharing mechanism aiming to reduce food insecurity and food waste, building a stronger community while sharing food. Everyone can bring food to put in the fridges and they are open for everyone to take the food they want from them. When examined more closely it seems that there is more behind these actions than the mere desire to reduce food waste, involving affect, empathy and emotions.
The aim of the documentary is to go beyond the sharing of food and deeper into what drives people to engage with these emotional practices. The Freedges play the main roles in the documentary by highlighting their agency on people’s actions and meaning-making. Empathfridges opens up the doors of the Freedges by examining emotion, affect and empathy through food, as well as exploring the activities and feelings of their users.
“For tomorrow paradise arrives”
Dir: Anna Hints, Estonia, 2021 (28 min)
The world is suffering from the flood of food waste, to save the environment and the future of their children, young mothers decide to feed their families by diving into the dumpsters of the enormous supermarkets.
The conference is being organised by the Estonian National Museum in collaboration with the Washing Machine Made of Beetroot joint exhibition project, curated by the Estonian Road Museum, the Estonian Agricultural Museum, and the Tartu City Museum. The conference and the exhibition are part of and supported by the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 programme.
